H G Blake (Costessey) Ltd held their first Christmas Beef Carcase show and sale in early December. It was such a success that Mrs Jane Blake announnced that the event would be repeated in 2011 and a date has already been set for December 2nd, so make a note in your diaries.
On a bitterly cold evening, guests were welcomed in a maquee where refreshments were available supplied by Bijou Bottles and a welcome hot beef roll supplied by Clarkes Quality Meats.
A charity auction, in aid of Norfolk Air Ambulance, was held prior to the main sale and raised an impressive £2,350
The Beef sale which had been judged by Adrian Crowe of MLC services and auctioned by Mr Graham Ellis of Stanfords was a lively affair with the Supreme Champion a South Devon Heifer being sold to Bradwell Butchers of Great Yarmouth. The beast was reared by Paul Barwood and his partner Anita Padfield also had success with the Reserve Champion which was a Blonde D'Aquitaine steer which was sold to Archers of Norwich.
Other class winners were:
John Nickalls-Limousin X heifer sold to Clark'e Quality Meats
J Tidman-Belgium Blum steer sold to Bramfield Meats
S Bush-Bazardaise steer sold to R Pratt
